The hardware of the RackMatrix S2 US version is exactly as described: ports, performance, case — all good. My only big complaint: when the unit landed in the Philippines (ordering via US version) I was hit with higher-than-expected import duties/handling fees, which bumped up the total landed cost significantly. The product is good, but the extra cost impacted our satisfaction.

I installed the RackMatrix S2 US version in our small data centre. First impressions are wonderful: good boot time, correct port detection, quiet fan. I’m still planning to run it under full load (50+ VPNs, IDS/IPS) before giving final verdict. For now, I’ll rate it five stars because the experience is positive.

After deploying the RackMatrix S2 US version in our US branch, we found everything worked as described. The three gigabit ports and SFP facilitated our segments well. My only small complaint: the quick-start guide didn’t have US-specific wiring/prong diagrams clearly illustrated, which slowed initial install a little. But once setup was done, product is strong.

The RackMatrix S2 US version is a very capable appliance. The hardware is excellent, however it shipped without storage (SSD), so we had to purchase and install an SSD separately. That was a small extra cost/time before full use. After that, everything has worked flawlessly.

I set up the RackMatrix S2 US version in my home lab and it is impressive for the size and price. The Intel E3845 4-core handled virtualised firewalls, IDS/IPS, and multiple VLANs without overheating. The 1 U rack case sits neatly and the SFP port is a nice bonus if I ever upgrade to fibre. Very happy.
